What is SaaS?

Software-as-a-service (SaaS) is a software licensing and delivery model in which users are permitted to use centrally hosted software on a subscription basis. It is also referred to as on-demand software, web-based software, cloud-based software or hosted software.

How is SaaS used?

SaaS applications are typically accessed by users using a thin client, e.g. via a web browser and therefore require end-users connected to the internet in order to use the application.
